Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a Cyber Security Engineer to own and evolve the security architecture across our infrastructure, network, and cloud platforms. You will lead projects from concept through implementation, mentor security staff, and drive risk-based improvements while coordinating with IT and development teams.

The role emphasizes hands-on design, implementation of SIEM/EDR/XDR, vulnerability management, and PCI/SOX compliance, with strong automation and scripting to reduce manual work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in CS/InfoSec; 5+ years in cybersecurity engineering or related field.
• Experience designing and owning security architecture across networks, cloud, and infrastructure.
• Certifications (CISSP, CISM, CEH, Security+) preferred or cloud security certs (AWS, Azure, GCP).

Responsibilities

• Designs, builds, and owns security architecture across infrastructure, network, cloud, and applications.
• Escalation point for technically complex security incidents requiring architectural changes.
• Leads security projects end to end — evaluating and standing up new platforms like SIEM, EDR/XDR, vulnerability management, IAM/PAM, and CSPM tools.
• Designs security hardening standards for servers, network devices, and cloud environments.
• Owns architecture and controls for PCI, SOX, and compliance audits.
• Leads root-cause analysis and remediation for major incidents; drives architectural changes.
• Designs and improves vulnerability management program, including scanning strategy and remediation workflows.
• Architects security for cloud environments (AWS/Azure/GCP), including network, identity, encryption, logging, posture management.
• Builds automation and tooling (scripting, IaC) to reduce manual security work and speed detection/response.
• Performs threat modeling and risk assessments for new systems before go-live.
• Mentors Information Security Analysts on best practices and tooling.
• Evaluates security vendors and owns vendor relationships for security tooling.
• Documents security architecture diagrams, standards, and runbooks.
