Job summary

The University of Miami seeks an experienced information security leader to align security requirements with organizational goals and regulatory standards. You will work with clients and senior management to shape security strategy and risk management across the university.

You will lead incident analysis, implement training programs, and supervise security staff while exploring new technologies to strengthen defenses and ensure compliance with internal and external policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required.
• Minimum 3 years of security experience or equivalent.
• Certifications such as CompTIA Security+ preferred.

Responsibilities

• Define and refine security management requirements with clients and senior management.
• Evaluate security controls, identify vulnerabilities, and recommend mitigations.
• Develop and deliver advanced training and awareness programs across the org.
• Collaborate with HR and departments to integrate security into processes.
• Provide specialized consulting on complex security challenges and best practices.
• Lead documentation and analysis of security incidents and coordinate responses.
• Research new technologies and methods to enhance security posture.
• Develop and oversee auditing and monitoring for policy compliance.
• Advise information asset owners on risk and action plans for data protection.
• Supervise security coordinators and junior analysts; mentor and develop staff.
• Adhere to policies and safeguard University assets.

• Works closely with clients and senior management to define and refine security management requirements, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and regulatory standards.
• Conducts comprehensive evaluations of security controls, identifies potential vulnerabilities, and recommends enhancements to mitigate risks.
• Develop and deliver advanced training and awareness programs tailored to different levels within the organization, promoting a strong security culture.
• Collaborates with human resources and other departments to integrate security considerations into all aspects of organizational processes.
• Provides specialized consulting services across the organization, addressing complex security challenges and advising on best practices.
• Leads the documentation and analysis of security incidents, ensuring a timely and effective response.
• Continuously researches new technologies and methodologies to enhance the organization's security posture and recommends their implementation.
• Develop and oversee auditing and monitoring processes to ensure compliance with internal and external security policies.
• Provides strategic advice to information asset owners, including risk assessments and the development of action plans for securing data.
• Supervises security coordinators and junior analysts, providing guidance and professional development opportunities.
• Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience required
• CompTIA Security+ Certification preferred.
