Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety is seeking a Security Service Technician in Norwalk, CT to independently service and maintain intrusion alarms, access control, CCTV, and related low-voltage systems. You will diagnose issues, perform preventive maintenance, and ensure compliance with codes and customer requirements.

The role requires 3+ years in the fire and life safety field, relevant licenses, and the ability to read technical drawings.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3+ years of experience in fire and life safety as an apprentice or technician.
• License L6/L5/C6/C5/E2/E1 required.
• Valid driver’s license with clean record if driving role.

Responsibilities

• Independently service and maintain security systems including intrusion alarms, access control, CCTV, and LV systems.
• Diagnose system issues and complete corrective actions in a timely and professional manner.
• Test and verify proper system functionality and compliance with codes and customer requirements.
• Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, system layouts, and manuals.
• Travel to job sites as required.

The Security Service Technician is responsible for independently performing service, and maintenance of security systems including intrusion alarms, access control, CCTV, and other low-voltage systems. The technician ensures systems operate properly, meets customer expectations, and supports compliance with applicable codes and standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Independently perform service, troubleshooting, repair, inspection, and maintenance of security systems including intrusion alarms, access control, CCTV, and related low-voltage systems.
• Diagnose system issues and complete corrective actions in a timely and professional manner.
• Test and verify proper system functionality and compliance with applicable codes, standards, and customer requirements.
• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on security and low-voltage systems.
• Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, system layouts, and technical manuals.
• Use hand tools and testing equipment to complete service work efficiently and safely.
• Complete service documentation, inspection reports, and work orders accurately and on time.
• Communicate professionally with customers, team members, and supervisors regarding job progress and system status.
• Follow all company safety procedures and customer site requirements
• Travel to job sites as required.
• Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in fire and life safety industry as an apprentice or technician.
• L6, or L5, or C6, or C5, or E2, or E1 license is required.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, if driving role.
• Strong working knowledge of intrusion alarms, access control, CCTV, and low-voltage systems.
• Ability to work independently and complete standard service jobs without direct supervision.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents and system drawings.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

• Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, climbing ladders, and working in various environments.
• Ability to lift 50+ pounds.
• Work performed in commercial, industrial, and construction environments.
• Exposure to varying conditions including heights, confined spaces, and active job sites.
• Use of hand tools and testing equipment.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods.

Pay

• $30 to $40 per hour depending on license & experience.
• Weekly pay.
• Company take home vehicle after 30 days.
