Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory seeks Networking and Software Engineers to join a multidisciplinary team solving real-world networking challenges for government sponsors. You will design, prototype, and test wired, wireless, and space-based communications solutions, with opportunities for mentorship and hands-on experimentation from day one.

The role emphasizes Python, C++, Go, and Rust development, examining TCP/IP fundamentals and modern networking technologies, while offering

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical degree.
  • Experience developing software in Python, C++, Go, Rust or similar.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Meet at least two of: exposure to TCP/IP fundamentals; CS fundamentals; experience in communications systems, modeling or testing.
  • Eligible for Interim Top Secret clearance; U.S. citizenship.

Responsibilities

  • Research solutions and engineering secure communications and networking technologies.
  • Design, develop, and test software for user interfaces, network protocols, evaluation tools.
  • Explore AI applications to networking, communications, and autonomous systems.
  • Develop wired and wireless network technology, designs, and architectures.
  • Evaluate networks through experimentation, testing, and provide actionable recommendations.
