The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory is seeking a Network Engineering Innovator to lead the development of modernized networking solutions for national challenges. You will architect and test software-based networked systems and collaborate with sponsors and multidisciplinary teams to ensure mission success.

Ideal candidates have strong networking fundamentals, 5+ years of data networking experience, and the ability to obtain interim clearance with potential TS/SCI

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field.
  • 5+ years of relevant data networking/IP standards experience.
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, UDP, routing, switching, IPv4/IPv6, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS.
  • Experience using tcpdump, Wireshark, netstat, ss for debugging networked systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal, independent work, and multi-team collaboration skills.
  • Willingness to travel as needed; ability to obtain Interim Top Secret security clearance by start date; eligibility for TS/SCI.
  • Master's or PhD in related field; 10+ years of networking experience; experience with programming languages (C, C++, Python, Rust, Bash).

Responsibilities

  • Lead research, development and implementation of networking solutions for Government and Military challenges.
  • Provide thought leadership in networked systems and application software development.
  • Architect, develop, integrate, test software-based command and control, secure communication, and networking systems.
  • Collaborate with technical specialists across disciplines in a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Document work in technical reports and brief sponsors and the technical community.
