The Custodian is responsible for performing a variety of custodial tasks in the cleaning and care of one or more buildings, adjacent grounds/sidewalks and trash removal. This position is located at our Juvenile Secure Detention Facility in Loudonville, NY.

Description

Job Responsibilities

• Accountable for cleaning and maintaining buildings/facilities of assigned area, adjacent grounds and sidewalks (e.g., mopping, washing, dusting, polishing, cleaning, moving furniture) using various cleaning substances, products, and equipment.
• Assist with cleaning, repair, removal, and moving of furniture within various locations.
• Responsible for snow removal from public areas, including sidewalks, parking lots, and entryways.
• Lead and supervise Workforce Development Program youth, including mentoring, coaching, and teaching custodial tasks related to buildings, grounds, and sidewalks.
• Act as a positive role model, maintain boundaries with youth, report incidents, and complete weekly progress notes for assigned youth.
• Manage and report risks in the area of responsibility, ensuring health and safety risks are controlled or removed.

Job Requirements

• Minimum High School Diploma/GED required.
• 1-3 years of custodial experience preferred.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Experience working with at-risk youth and/or in non-profit organizations preferred.
• Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to work with a diverse population.
• Skills: organizational, communication, attention to detail, ability to meet deadlines, both written and oral communication skills.

Schedule:

• 7 am to 3 pm, Monday - Friday
