Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a Senior Transportation Lead to oversee a professional discipline section and drive the delivery of complex transportation projects. You will coordinate priorities, staff assignments, and budgets while mentoring a team of 6-8 planners and engineers.

The role requires a strong background in project leadership, transportation planning, and client relationship management, with a focus on growth,Forecasting, and strategic alignment with the firm's goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Planning, Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, Engineering, Geology, Biology, Environmental Science, Anthropology, Archaeology, or related field.
  • 8 years of relevant experience.
  • 2 years of project leadership experience.
  • Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • Preferred: Master’s Degree in Business, Project Management, Planning, Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, Engineering, Geology, Biology, Environmental Science or related field.
  • Preferred: 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Preferred: 2 years supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a professional discipline section in the development and delivery of projects
  • Coordinate project priorities, staffing schedules, and staff assignments
  • Coach and mentor staff and promote team development
  • Manage and develop a group of 6-8 transportation planners and engineers
  • Provide technical expertise and coordinate transportation project delivery
  • Develop, monitor, and manage the section's operating budget and forecast updates
  • Manage section growth and professional development; establish priorities and assign staff to jobs
  • Coordinate work-sharing with other Sections and Departments
  • Support the firm's strategic plan and SSA process for project pursuits
  • Support contracting processes through scope, work plan, fee reviews, project delivery, and contracting activities
  • Support project delivery processes, including work planning and monthly project reviews
  • Assist with marketing, client discovery, proposals, interviews, and win-to-work activities
  • Maintain client contacts and ensure client satisfaction
  • Recruit, hire, develop, and retain section staff, including performance, compensation, and succession planning
  • Manage assigned project scope, schedule, budget, and quality
  • Perform technical planning tasks including research, reports, design, specifications, and plan preparation
  • Lead a team with direct and indirect supervision of at least 5, typically 7-10 or more employees
  • Perform other duties as assigned
