Job summary

Jobtailor in the United States seeks a Senior Traffic and Safety Engineering Manager to lead the technical discipline in project design, development, and delivery. You will direct a team of 6-8 engineers, coordinate priorities, staffing, and budgets, and provide coaching to ensure high-quality outcomes for clients.

This role requires a Bachelor's in Engineering with extensive experience, leadership, and PE/AICP/PMP preferences.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 8 years of practical experience, including 2 years of leadership experience.
  • Master's degree in Engineering preferred.
  • 10 years practical experience preferred.
  • 2 years supervisory experience preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification preferred.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred.
  • Experience in traffic and safety analysis from feasibility to construction.
  • Ability to provide technical coaching and mentoring.
  • Ability to manage a group of 6-8 traffic and safety engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical discipline section in project design, development, and delivery.
  • Coordinate project priorities, staffing schedules, and staff assignments.
  • Provide technical coaching and mentoring and ensure efficient staff utilization.
  • Manage and develop a traffic and safety engineering section of 6-8 engineers.
  • Develop, monitor, and manage the section's operating budget and forecast updates.
  • Coordinate section activities, establish priorities, and assign staff to jobs.
  • Collaborate with other sections and departments on work-sharing opportunities.
  • Support strategic planning and the Sophisticated Sales Approach process on project pursuits.
  • Support contracting processes through project delivery, including scope, work plan, and fee reviews.
  • Support project delivery processes, work planning, monthly project reviews, and performance methods.
  • Assist with marketing, client discovery, proposals, interviews, and win-to-work activities.
  • Maintain client contacts and ensure client satisfaction.
  • Recruit, hire, develop, and retain section staff.
  • Manage staff reporting, performance and compensation reviews, and succession planning.
  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, and quality.
  • Perform technical engineering tasks including research, reports, design, specifications, and plan preparation.
  • Lead a team through direct and indirect supervision of at least 5, typically 7-10 or more employees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
