Job Overview

Leidos Defense Systems is seeking a talented Section Manager – High Speed Digital Design to lead our electrical engineering team. This role involves supervising engineers, contributing technically to aerospace and military systems, and supporting organizational growth and quality improvements.

Responsibilities

1. Provide technical oversight and mentorship to develop team members
2. Develop strong working relationships with team members to meet productivity and retention goals
3. Conduct regular staff meetings and one-on-ones
4. Scale the team by managing hiring processes
5. Design and test complex PCB designs with embedded processors, FPGAs, etc.
6. Improve organizational quality, agility, and capability
7. Support business development with technical input
8. Handle reporting and administrative tasks
9. Contribute technically during project planning and execution
10. Perform hardware system development from requirements to testing

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical or computer engineering from an ABET-accredited institution
• 2+ years of experience leading technical teams
• 5+ years of high-speed digital PCB design experience
• Experience with high-speed analysis tools like HyperLynx
• Knowledge of high-speed serial standards and memory interfaces
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Ability to interpret schematics and system diagrams
• Hands-on experience with test equipment and debugging
• Self-motivated with excellent communication skills
• Willing to relocate to Huntsville, AL or reside in North Alabama

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in electrical or computer engineering
• Experience in personnel management and project management
• Knowledge of military or aerospace hardware design

Additional Information

Candidate must be a US citizen with a Final Secret Clearance or eligibility for one. Salary range: $85,150 - $153,925. The role is full-time, mid-senior level, in the government and IT sectors.
