Job summary

The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) is seeking a Modeling and Analytics Section Supervisor (KAT-01) to lead a team of engineers and analysts in Laurel, MD. The role focuses on mission-level simulation, data fusion, and system-of-systems analysis to advance ISRT and BMC2 concepts.

You will coach staff in using tools like AFSIM/CLCSIM, guide technical direction, recruit talent, and partner with group leadership to align strategy with national defense needs.

Qualifications

  • Have a Bachelor's degree in engineering, applied mathematics, computer science, physics, or another related field.
  • Have at least five years of relevant work experience in modeling, simulation and analysis, including significant experience in a lead role.
  • Have proficiency using MATLAB, and/or Python for analysis on Linux operating systems.
  • Have technical expertise in sensor and data fusion, RF physics and sensors, EO/IR sensors, communications networks, statistical analysis, mathematical optimization, tracking.
  • Have domain knowledge of ISR processes, systems, platforms and sensors used by US military and intelligence community; Navy and Air Force kill chain concepts; targeting, C2 and mission planning processes and tools; threat systems and networks.
  • Have strong interpersonal and written communications skills and coaching abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership across the full portfolio of the section's activities to ensure effective planning and execution.
  • Use mission level modeling and simulation tools to evaluate and improve ISR/T and BMC2 concepts, sensor architectures, and kill chain performance.
  • Promote innovation and high standards of modeling and analytics products.
