Job summary

The Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) Strike Analysis Group invites you to apply your modeling and simulation expertise to mission‑level sensor, tracker, and weapon system analyses using AFSIM. You will collaborate with engineers and scientists and perform statistical analyses to inform decisions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical or scientific field such as Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline.
  • At least two years of experience with AFSIM for modeling, simulation and analysis.
  • Experience conducting statistical analysis to identify trends and draw conclusions.
  • Ability to learn new and challenging topics.
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas in a collaborative environment.
  • Proficiency or fluency in MATLAB or Python.

Responsibilities

  • Develop models and perform analysis on sensor, tracker, communication, and weapon systems for mission-level simulations using AFSIM.
  • Perform statistical analysis to identify trends, assess risk, and document uncertainties in results.
  • Collaborate with software team to improve tools and data representations, and automate analysis pipelines.
  • Mentor junior analysts and collaborate with senior engineers on project direction.
  • Engage in independent research projects and present work to technical and decision-making audiences.
