Job description

Overview

The Department of Surgery at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University seeks a full‑time faculty member to serve as Section Chief and Surgical Director of the Georgia Cancer Center. The role is at the rank of Professor and requires leadership in the Surgical Oncology Program, with a specialty emphasis in Breast, Soft Tissue & Melanoma or GI Oncology. The position does not carry a tenure track.

Required Qualifications
  • MD, DO, or equivalent
  • Successful completion of a surgical oncology fellowship
  • Board Certified in General Surgery with additional fellowship training in Surgical Oncology
  • Minimum of seven years of experience
  • Demonstrated success in programmatic development
  • At least five years at the rank of Associate Professor or comparable
Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop the Surgical Oncology Program and direct clinical activities at the Georgia Cancer Center
  • Participate in research studies and advance clinical scholarship
  • Teach and mentor general surgery residents and medical students
  • Promote a patient‑and family‑centered, customer‑friendly environment for patients, students, faculty, and staff
  • Serve on institutional committees and support the University’s mission and values
Employment Details

The position is fiscal year based, works year‑round, and is full‑time (FTE 1.0). Required pre‑employment checks include a background check and, for the specific duties, a credit check and motor‑vehicle report. Faculty must comply with the University’s cybersecurity and privacy policies.
