The Department of Surgery at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University is seeking a full-time faculty member to serve as Section Chief at the rank of Professor, to serve as an experienced surgeon and lead the Surgical Oncology Program in Augusta, Georgia. The candidate will also hold an administrative post as the Surgical Director of the Georgia Cancer Center. Candidates with a special interest or training in Breast, Soft Tissue and Melanoma, or GI Oncology are preferred. This position does not meet the requirements to be on a tenure track.

Responsibilities

• Work with general surgery residents

Required Qualifications

• MD, DO, or equivalent
• Successful completion of surgical oncology fellowship
• Board Certified in General Surgery, with additional fellowship training in Surgical Oncology and demonstrated success in programmatic development
• Minimum of seven years of experience
• Senior level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor or comparable training
• Consistent with SACSCOC requirements for institutional accreditation
• Evidence of ability as a teacher
• Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned
• Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations

Preferred Qualifications

• Certified in Complex General Surgical Oncology
• Academic Medical Teaching experience
