Job summary

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools is seeking a Section 504 and Homebound Programs Specialist to provide consultative and compliance support for Section 504 and Homebound programs district-wide. Under supervision, this role ensures programs align with BOE policies across schools and departments.

The position involves training, data review, and coordination with multiple CMS departments, with travel to district buildings as required.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree required.
  • Three years of school-based experience with 504/EC programs.
  • Leadership in 504/EC compliance at school level preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures.
  • Support Section 504 teams with consultation and problem solving.
  • Review Section 504 documents for accuracy, quality, and compliance.
  • Audit and monitor student documentation for federal compliance.
  • Develop and deliver professional development for school-based Section 504 liaisons and coordinators.
  • Coordinate referrals to CMS departments such as testing, nursing, transportation, and related services.
  • Represent Section 504 programs at school, department, and community events/meetings.
  • Provide technical platforms support for 504 data (e.g., SE504, PowerSchool).
