Qualifications

  • Familiarity with clinical patient systems preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple administrative responsibilities.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively with patients, providers, clinical staff, and other members of the healthcare team.

Responsibilities

  • Answering and managing incoming telephone calls from patients, providers, and other departments.
  • Providing administrative support to clinical and departmental team members.
  • Coordinating schedules, meetings, and other departmental activities.
  • Preparing meeting materials and accurately documenting meeting minutes.
  • Maintaining organized departmental files, records, and documentation.
  • Monitoring and ordering office and departmental supplies.
  • Assisting with basic technology and IT troubleshooting and coordinating additional support when needed.
  • Utilizing Microsoft Office and clinical patient systems to complete daily administrative responsibilities.
  • Supporting departmental educational programs and related administrative activities.
  • Communicating effectively with patients, providers, leadership, and interdisciplinary team members.
  • Helping maintain an organized, responsive, and professional department environment.

At RWJBarnabas Health, exceptional patient care is supported by team members who keep our departments organized, connected, and running smoothly. We are seeking an organized and service-focused Secretary to join our Inpatient Rehabilitation Department at the New Brunswick campus.

In this role, you’ll provide essential administrative support to the department while serving as a key point of contact for patients, providers, and team members. If you’re a strong communicator who enjoys keeping things organized, solving day-to-day challenges, and supporting a collaborative clinical team, we’d love to meet you.

A Typical Day

As a Secretary within Inpatient Rehabilitation, you’ll help coordinate the administrative needs of the department while supporting efficient clinical operations. Your responsibilities may include:

  • Answering and managing incoming telephone calls from patients, providers, and other departments
  • Providing administrative support to clinical and departmental team members
  • Coordinating schedules, meetings, and other departmental activities
