Job summary

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems (NGDS) seeks a Systems Engineer focused on obsolescence management for the IBCS Poland Integrated Battle Command System, based in Huntsville, AL. The ideal candidate has experience across lifecycle engineering, DMSMS, and DoD program environments.

Primary duties include lifecycle analysis, coordination with cross-functional teams, and support for mitigation plans. Secret clearance and readiness for 10% travel are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in science; Master’s degree may substitute for experience.
• Experience in DMSMS, obsolescence management, parts management, or lifecycle sustainment.
• Experience identifying, assessing, tracking, and mitigating obsolete components.
• Experience researching availability, end-of-life notices, and supplier discontinuance.
• Ability to assess technical, schedule, cost, and mission impacts of obsolescence.
• Experience developing or supporting mitigation plans (lifetime buys, substitutions, redesign).
• Coordination with systems engineering, hardware, supply chain, procurement, manufacturing, quality, and program management.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Active Secret Clearance

Responsibilities

• Lead systems obsolescence analysis across lifecycle and programs.
• Coordinate with SE, hardware, supply chain, and procurement teams.
• Support Engineering Change Proposals and configuration baselines.
• Document technical assessments, risks, and mitigation recommendations.
• Evaluate form, fit, function, reliability, and certification impacts of alternatives.
