Job summary

Northrop Grumman in Melbourne, FL seeks a Sr. Principal Systems Engineer – E3 to provide technical leadership across electromagnetic environmental effects for complex aerospace programs.

The role spans concept to disposal with responsibility for requirements, trade studies, and design integration. The position requires a DoD Secret clearance, 1+ year RF/design experience, and strong system requirements capability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university with 8+ years of engineering experience, OR Master’s with 6+ years, OR PhD with 4+ years.
  • Active DoD Secret security clearance.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain special program access as required.
  • Experience with MIL STD 461 and/or MIL STD 464.
  • Minimum 1 year of RF, test, or design engineering experience.
  • Experience in system requirements development and decomposition with traceability.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, interpret, allocate, tailor, and flow down E3 requirements to all design levels; ensure requirements are clear, testable, and traceable.
  • Engage across all phases of the program lifecycle; communicate complex E3 concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Prepare and deliver E3 content at design reviews including risks, mitigations, and compliance.
  • Develop E3 design guidelines and best practices; create models and analyses using EMI/EMC principles.
  • Lead grounding schemes, shielding, EMI filters, and interface circuitry for EMC.
  • Prepare and review E3 test procedures, reports, analyses, and control plans; provide E3 input to cross-discipline reviews.
  • Develop E3 test procedures and support/lead testing per MIL STD standards; drive corrective actions.
  • Train and mentor E3 engineers; contribute to Northrop Grumman’s E3 excellence.
