Job summary

POSITION TITLE: Secondary Technology/STEM Teacher

STATUS:Full Time 9 months

REPORTS TO: High School Principal

SUMMARY OF PURPOSE Under the direction of the Building Principal, the STEM/Technology Teacher creates a supportive, structured, and engaging classroom environment for high school students. This teacher is responsible for planning and delivering effective, standards-based instruction in STEM and technology subjects, assessing student progress, managing classroom behavior, and supporting the academic and personal growth of all students in alignment with school district policies.

QUALIFICATIONS Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging, standards-aligned daily lesson plans and instructional materials. Teach high school students fundamental and advanced concepts in STEM, technology, and applied sciences. Assess student academic performance through quizzes, tests, projects, and assignments, providing timely and constructive feedback. Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and academic progress using the district's grading software. Establish and maintain clear classroom rules and routines to ensure a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment. Differentiate instruction to accommodate various learning styles, abilities, and individual student needs. Integrate instructional technology into daily teaching to enhance student learning and engagement. Collaborate with colleagues, department members, and administration to align curriculum and improve instructional practices. Communicate regularly and professionally with parents and guardians regarding student achievement, behavior, and overall progress. Participate in staff meetings, professional development opportunities, department meetings, and school-wide events. Supervise students during non-instructional times as assigned (e.g., homeroom, hallway duties, study halls).

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS Must possess or be eligible for a valid Pennsylvania Instructional Certificate in Technology Education PK-12 (Certification Code: 6075). Solid understanding of curriculum development, instructional strategies, and high school student development. Proficiency with classroom technology, educational software, interactive whiteboards, and learning management systems. Strong classroom management and student engagement skills. Effective communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

ABILITIES Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and effectively to high school students. Ability to adapt instruction to meet the diverse academic and social needs of students, including IEP and 504 accommodations. Ability to maintain a positive, safe, and organized classroom atmosphere. Ability to build positive working relationships with students, colleagues, parents, and administrators. Must present a professional demeanor that adheres to the District Code of Ethics and professional standards.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Bachelor's Degree in Education, Technology Education, or a related content area from an accredited college or university is required. Active Pennsylvania Technology Education PK-12 (6075) credential (Instructional I or Instructional II). Prior high school teaching experience or successful completion of a student teaching internship at the secondary level preferred.
