Job summary

Kansas City Public Schools seeks a Secondary Special Education Paraprofessional at East High School to assist classroom teachers with instructional activities and IEP-based programs. You will support students' social, physical, and academic growth, coordinate materials, and communicate with parents to reinforce curriculum and expectations.

The role requires working with diverse learners, assisting with daily living skills, and providing coverage when needed.

Qualifications

• Candidates must meet one of the listed qualification options.
• 60 college credits or an associate degree or higher are required.
• Missouri ParaPro or Paraprofessional assessments may be required.
• Completion of Missouri's 20-hour substitute training is expected.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate instructional activities with teachers.
• Provide group instruction to assigned children.
• Support curriculum communication with children and parents.
• Prepare daily materials and set up activities.
• Assist with program planning and parent involvement activities.
• Lead orientation and professional development sessions when needed.
• Implement IEP-based activities for growth and skills.
• Support daily living skills and supervise students outside the classroom.
• Provide short-term coverage when teachers are away.
