Job summary

Positronic Industries, Inc. seeks a Secondary Operator to operate machine tools and insure parts meet specifications in a high-production environment.

You will load pieces, start and monitor machines, and perform basic quality checks while maintaining safety standards and adherence to procedures.

Qualifications

Job description

Secondary Operator (Finance)

Summary The secondary operator is responsible for operating one or more machine tools, special purpose machines, or industrial machines to machine metal workpieces to specifications on a production basis. This role requires attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to perform manual tasks to ensure the quality and conformance of machined parts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lift and secure workpieces or load automatic feeding devices.
  • Start machine, engage feed, and observe operation.
  • Hand sort and rework parts.
  • Inspect and measure workpieces to verify conformance.
  • Adjust machine settings and controls.
  • Replace worn accessories (tools, brushes, etc.).
  • Deburr and finish parts using files/sanders.
  • Activate machines via buttons/sensors.
  • Clean machined parts.
  • Machine plastics and other nonmetals.
  • Operate machines and equipment beyond traditional tools.
  • Use blueprints for specification checks.
  • Uphold Positronic’s standards of integrity, quality, and operational excellence.
  • Identify hazards in the workplace and report them to management and/or the safety coordinator.
  • Collaborate with the EHS department to meet local, state, and federal regulatory requirements, including OSHA, NFPA, DNR, EPA, and Amphenol sustainability practices.
  • Work with the Quality department to ensure compliance with AS9100 certification standards.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 to 3 months of experience or training OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must pass appropriate testing to advance in the ABC program.
Physical
  • Constantly lifting 0-20 lbs; Frequently 20-40 lbs; Occasionally 40+ lbs with assistance.
  • Frequent standing and walking; occasional sitting.
  • Requires bending, kneeling, pushing, pulling, reaching, and gripping.
  • Frequent use of hands/arms for tools and technical equipment.
  • Safety glasses required at all times; other PPE as necessary.
Working Conditions

Work is performed in a production zone with exposure to high noise levels, and heavy forklift traffic. Occasionally exposed to gas, dust, chemicals, and non-harmful fumes. Proper PPE is required.
