Secondary Operations Technician – Trimming & Finishing

Pay: $18.00 per hour | Position Type: Full-time, In-person | Location: Constantine, MI

The Opportunity

Michiana Rotational Molding is a precision rotomolding manufacturer serving industrial and oilfield customers across North America. As a Secondary Operations Technician, you'll be the final craftsperson who transforms raw molded parts into finished products ready for our demanding customers. Your precision, attention to quality, and commitment to excellence directly impact customer satisfaction and MRM's reputation for delivering superior products on schedule.

What You'll Do

Your primary responsibility is secondary processing—the finishing work that transforms molded plastic components into products that meet exacting customer specifications. This includes:

Trimming & Deburring

Remove flash, gates, and excess material from rotomolded parts using hand tools, pneumatic trimmers, and rotary equipment. Achieve clean edges that meet both aesthetic and functional standards.

Precision Finishing

Sand, grind, and polish surfaces to specifications. Identify and address warping, voids, air bubbles, and surface imperfections before they reach customers.

Drilling & Fabrication

Execute precise drilling, cutting, and assembly operations. Install bosses, inserts, and other components as required by customer specifications.

Quality Inspection & Control

Conduct thorough visual and physical inspections at each stage. Measure dimensions, verify fits, and compare finished parts against customer specifications and quality standards.

Packaging & Preparation

Prepare completed parts for shipment. Ensure proper protection, labeling, and documentation to support on-time delivery.

Work closely with production scheduling, quality, and logistics teams. Report defects, communicate bottlenecks, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

What We're Looking For

Essential Experience & Skills

Previous rotomolding, plastic fabrication, or general manufacturing experience preferred. Proficiency with hand tools, rotary cutters, sanders, drills, and trim equipment. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications. Solid understanding of manufacturing safety protocols and PPE requirements.

You'll work in MRM's manufacturing facility—a dynamic, busy environment with moderate noise, varying temperatures, and the energy of production schedules. Personal protective equipment (safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection) is required and provided. This is hands-on manufacturing work; you'll be active, engaged, and part of a team focused on building quality products.
