Howard County Public School System is seeking a motivated Secondary Computer Science Teacher to foster a dynamic learning environment for students. Under the direction of school leadership, the teacher will plan and implement a curriculum that prepares students for success in various career pathways.
This 10-month position requires a Bachelor’s degree and MSDE certification. The ideal candidate will demonstrate effective instructional methods and a commitment to student development.
Under the direction of the principal and/or assistant principal, the Secondary Computer Science Teacher plans and provides appropriate learning experiences for all students. The teacher creates an environment conducive to intellectual, social, physical, and emotional development, and prepares students for success in a dynamic 21‐century world with a variety of career pathways. The teacher develops, selects, and differentiates instructional plans and materials based on the HCPSS curriculum, ensuring all students achieve learning outcomes and meet system-wide goals.
Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will be included in further evaluation. Interviews will be limited to those applicants whose experience and education most closely match the requirements and needs of the school system.
This is a 10-month per year position in the Howard County Educators Association (HCEA) employee bargaining unit.
Compensation: The salary range follows the 10-month HCEA Teacher Scale and is determined by salary procedures of the HCPSS and the HCEA Master Agreement, taking into account relevant prior experience.
Benefits: HCPSS offers a comprehensive benefits package for eligible employees. Information about additional benefits such as paid time off can be found in the negotiated agreement for employees in this bargaining unit.
Retirement: Membership in the Maryland State Retirement Agency (MSRA) pension plan is a mandatory condition of employment. The annual contribution to the pension plan is 7% of a worker’s salary.
