Job summary

Emerson College is seeking a part-time Secondary Assistant Men's Lacrosse Coach to support the Head Coach in running an intercollegiate program. You will help develop student-athletes, scout teams, break down game film, and assist in organizing practices and games.

The role requires assisting in coaching strategies, monitoring training, and ensuring safety standards while representing the athletics department publicly.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 0–2 years of coaching experience at the post-secondary level or college playing experience required.
  • Valid driver's license required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist head coach in organizing, preparing, and conducting training and matches.
  • Support monitoring and coordinating training and practice sessions.
  • Ensure safety guidelines are maintained.
  • Provide guidance and support to other assistant coaches.
  • Coordinate and administer overall program logistics as needed.
  • Represent Emerson College and the athletics department externally.
  • Assist with coaching strategies and player development.
  • Analyze team, player, and opponent performance.
  • Mentor student-athletes to support athletic, academic, emotional, and social growth.
  • Monitor progress of prospective players during the application process.

Secondary Assistant Men's Lacrosse Coach

Under the direction of the Head Coach, the Secondary AssistantCoach will help in running an intercollegiate sports program atEmerson College. The Assistant Coach will be responsible fordeveloping student-athletes, scouting teams, breaking down gamefilm and assisting in the organization and facilitation of practiceand games.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
  • Assists head coach in organizing, preparing, and conductingindividual and team training and match competition.
  • Assist in monitoring, and coordinating training and practicesessions.
  • Ensuring that all appropriate safety guidelines and standardsare maintained.
  • Provides day-to-day guidance, assistance, and support to otherassistant coaches on coaching training sessions and techniques ofindividual players.
  • Aids in the coordination and administration of the overallprogram, as required.
  • Represents the Emerson College and the athletic department tovarious institutional programs and externally to the media,students, parents, and the general public.
  • Assist with coaching strategies and teaching methods to developplayers technical ability and team tactical solutions.
  • Analyze the performance of our team, individual players and ouropponents.
  • Provide leadership and instruction to improve the team and theindividual player.
  • Mentor student-athletes to foster athletic, academic, emotionaland social growth
  • Monitor the progress of prospective players during theapplication process.
  • Assist in coordinating and organizing potential playeron-campus visits.
  • Assists with some aspects of the recruitment and retention of adiverse set prospective student athletes.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS -

Qualifications are deemed required orpreferred and represent what is needed to effectively performjob.

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • 0 - 2 years of coaching experience at the post-secondary level,professional competitive experience or college playing experiencerequired
  • A valid driver's license required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES -

  • Demonstrated knowledge of technical skills and tacticalstrategy and the ability to effectively teach them and communicatewith players.
  • Working knowledge of NCAA and NEWMAC rules and an understandingof the philosophy behind them.
  • The coach must be self-directed, motivated and able to workindependently and under pressure.
  • Commitment to being a positive member of the AthleticsDepartment, the College community and the ability to influence theathletes to do the same.

Compensation:

The hourly rate for this position is $17.95 -$20.55.
