Job summary

Addison Group is recruiting a Second Shift Supervisor for a growing Tulsa-area manufacturing and fabrication operation. You will lead the welding/fabrication team from the shop floor, solve problems, and develop people to ensure safe, timely production.

You will oversee ~7 welders initially, with potential to expand leadership as operations scale, and you’ll drive Lean, 5S, and continuous improvement while coordinating with maintenance, engineering and quality.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in manufacturing, fabrication, welding, or mechanical assembly.
• 2+ years supervisory or lead welding/fabrication experience.
• Strong hands-on welding/fabrication background.
• Lead from the production floor rather than from a desk.
• Ability to read blueprints and work orders.
• Solid understanding of production, safety and quality processes.
• Strong communication, organization and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to work overtime based on production demands.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily second-shift shop-floor operations to meet production goals safely and on schedule.
• Supervise, coach, train and develop welders and fabrication staff.
• Assign work, adjust priorities and monitor KPIs like output, scrap and labor utilization.
• Provide hands-on support to welding/fabrication team as needed.
• Read blueprints and production requirements accurately.
• Collaborate with Maintenance, Engineering and Quality to minimize downtime.
• Conduct daily pre-shift safety meetings and reinforce safety culture.
• Support hiring, onboarding and accountability of staff.
• Drive Lean, 5S and root-cause analysis for continuous improvement.
• Ensure clear communication and handoff between shifts.

Job description

A growing manufacturing and fabrication organization in the Tulsa area is adding a Second Shift Supervisor.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone with a strong welding/fabrication background who enjoys leading from the shop floor, solving problems, developing people, and making sure production gets out the door safely and on time.

The initial team will include approximately 7 welders, with the opportunity for this person to take on broader shop-floor leadership as the operation continues to grow.

What You'll Do

• Lead daily second-shift shop-floor operations and ensure production goals are met safely, efficiently, and on schedule
• Supervise, coach, train, and develop welders, fabricators, and other production employees
• Assign work, adjust priorities, and monitor production KPIs including output, scrap, rework, and labor utilization
• Provide hands-on support to the welding/fabrication team when needed
• Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and production requirements
• Partner with Maintenance, Engineering, and Quality to resolve production issues and minimize downtime
• Conduct daily pre-shift safety meetings and reinforce a strong safety culture
• Support hiring, onboarding, training, and employee accountability
• Drive Lean, 5S, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Ensure effective communication and handoff between shifts
• Support equipment reliability, inventory accuracy, and scrap accountability

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, fabrication, welding, or mechanical assembly
• 2+ years of supervisory/team lead experience OR significant experience leading a welding/fabrication team
• Strong hands-on welding/fabrication background
• Ability to lead from the production floor rather than from behind a desk
• Ability to interpret blueprints and work orders
• Strong understanding of production, safety, and quality processes
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
• Willingness to work overtime based on production demands

Preferred

• Experience with ASME pressure vessels, tanks, or HVAC equipment manufacturing
• Lean manufacturing / 5S experience
• ERP and Microsoft Excel experience
• Forklift or powered industrial truck experience

Schedule

Monday-Thursday: 4:00 PM-2:30 AM

Friday: 4:00 PM-1:30 AM

Saturday: 4:00 PM-9:00 PM as needed

Overtime is expected based on production demands. The position will typically work approximately 50-55 hours per week.
