Job summary

Lockheed Martin's Missiles and Fire Control team in Orlando seeks an experienced Optics Manufacturing Engineer to support the production of precision optical components using grinding, polishing, and lean techniques. You will guide operators, design manufacturing and test plans for NRE projects, and drive cost reduction and quality improvements.

The ideal candidate has a mechanical or optical engineering background, CAD/GD&T experience, and hands-on optics/manufacturing expertise.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Mechanical, Optical Engineering or related discipline from an accredited college.
• Experience with CAD software, creating mechanical drawings, and knowledge of GD&T.
• Hands on Optics Manufacturing or Manual/CNC machining experience.
• Must be a US Citizen. This position is located at a facility that requires special access.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical guidance and hands-on support to optical operators to achieve peak performance.
• Design, document, and sustain manufacturing and test plans for NRE projects, then transition those plans into full-rate production.
• Apply lean manufacturing techniques to reduce cost, improve yield, and streamline workflow.
• Investigate root-cause of failures or defects, implement corrective actions, and drive continuous-improvement initiatives.
• Manage tooling, manufacturing aids, and capital equipment requirements throughout the product lifecycle.
