Job summary

The MT II performs routine and complex laboratory analyses, identifies issues and develops alternatives, and stays current in laboratory theory and technique.

Minimum requirements include an associate degree in clinical laboratory science and MT(ASCP)/MLS/MLT certification.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in clinical laboratory science or medical laboratory technology is required.
• MT(ASCP), MLS(ASCP), or MLT(ASCP) certification or equivalent is required.
• Knowledge of specimen requirements and laboratory terminology is required.
• Ability to read and comprehend written information; ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and complex microbiology analyses and interpret results.
• Identify problems and develop alternatives; stay current in laboratory theory and technique.
• Maintain currency through competencies, training modules and continuing education.
• Perform quality control procedures and corrective actions; document results.
• Prepare specimens for testing and ensure timely turnaround.
