Job summary

Scripps Research is seeking a Facilities Operator II in La Jolla, CA. The role involves hands-on operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of plant and building systems including boilers, chillers, cooling towers, and HVAC equipment.

The position is primarily second shift with potential for other shifts as needed. Candidates should have 5+ years of mechanical systems experience and be proficient with building management software.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of experience maintaining, repairing and installing mechanical systems.
• Trade/Vocational certification may substitute for 5 years of experience.
• Preferred: chiller/boiler experience in institutional, commercial, or industrial facilities.
• Experience with building management software and BAS/BMS systems.
• Valid driver''s license.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work shifts.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on maintenance and repair of boilers, chillers, pumps, and motors.
• Perform rounds, monitor systems, and report conditions.
• Respond to emergency calls and coordinate with building systems.
• Read blueprints and specs to determine installation or repair needs.
• Coordinate with facilities staff, vendors, and contractors.
• Operate CMMS software and document time and tasks.
• Maintain inventory and order supplies.
