Job summary

CTDI is seeking an Engineering Technician to serve as an on-site technology/automation support resource at one of our branch locations. This role handles day-to-day upkeep, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance of automated and testing systems in production, including conveyance, sortation, robotics, in-house test solutions and PLC-controlled equipment, with travel up to 40% during peak deployment seasons.

2nd Shift: 3:00PM - 11:30PM, Monday - Friday.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or technical certification in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Industrial Automation, or related field — or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Experience with industrial automation equipment (conveyance, sortation, robotics, PLC-controlled hardware) preferred.
• Reads electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings and equipment manuals confidently.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary on-site contact for automated systems including conveyance, sortation, testing, robotics, scanning infrastructure, and PLC-controlled equipment.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance on hardware per schedules and manufacturer specs, including spare parts management.
• Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues to minimize downtime and maintain throughput.
• Support hardware upgrades, component swaps, sensor replacement and recalibration, and wiring repairs.
• Maintain maintenance logs, parts inventory, and service records; escalate recurring issues to Engineering and Automation leadership.
• Coordinate with branch operations to schedule maintenance windows minimizing production impact.
• Travel to support new launches, assisting with physical installation and project planning.
• Verify wiring configuration, terminations, and power distribution, ensuring readiness for programming and testing.
• Support commissioning by confirming readiness of equipment and provide hypercare after go-live.
