Job summary

The Landings Golf & Athletic Club is seeking an Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to support the Marshwood and Magnolia courses, working closely with the Superintendent and grounds team to uphold exceptional playing conditions.

You will lead maintenance staff, plan mowing, fertilization, aeration, and pesticide applications, monitor turf health, and ensure safe operations while coordinating around events and member play.

Qualifications

• Degree or certificate in turfgrass management, agronomy, or horticulture preferred.
• Previous golf course maintenance experience required; supervisory preferred.
• Knowledge of turfgrass practices, irrigation, fertilizers, pesticides, and equipment.
• Valid pesticide applicator license is preferred or obtainable.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily maintenance and conditioning of Marshwood and Magnolia courses.
• Supervise, train, schedule, and motivate maintenance team members.
• Plan and execute mowing, irrigation, fertilization, pesticide application, aeration, bunker maintenance, and other agronomic tasks.
• Monitor turf health and course conditions, weather, and maintenance needs.
• Support irrigation system operation, troubleshooting, and water management practices.
• Safely operate and oversee golf course maintenance equipment.
• Ensure safety procedures and environmental regulations are followed.
• Maintain records for chemical applications, inventory, labor, and daily activities.
• Coordinate work around member play, events, and projects.
• Assist with seasonal renovations, construction projects, and storm recovery.

Assistant Golf Course Superintendent Landings Golf and Athletic Club

The Landings Golf & Athletic Club is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Superintendent to support the maintenance and daily operation of the Marshwood and Magnolia golf courses. This position works closely with the Golf Course Superintendent and grounds team to provide exceptional playing conditions and uphold the Club’s high standards for course presentation, safety, and member experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the daily maintenance and conditioning of the Marshwood and Magnolia courses.
• Supervise, train, schedule, and motivate golf course maintenance team members.
• Help plan and execute mowing, irrigation, fertilization, pesticide application, aeration, bunker maintenance, and other agronomic practices.
• Monitor turf health, course conditions, weather, and maintenance needs.
• Assist with irrigation system operation, troubleshooting, repairs, and water-management practices.
• Safely operate and oversee the use of golf course maintenance equipment.
• Ensure compliance with safety procedures and applicable environmental regulations.
• Maintain accurate records for chemical and fertilizer applications, inventory, labor, and daily maintenance activities.
• Coordinate work around member play, tournaments, projects, and special events.
• Support seasonal renovations, construction projects, storm preparation, and recovery efforts.
• Serve as a team leader when the Golf Course Superintendent is unavailable.

Qualifications

• Degree or certificate in turfgrass management, agronomy, horticulture, or a related field preferred.
• Previous golf course maintenance experience required; supervisory experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of turfgrass practices, irrigation systems, fertilizers, pesticides, and equipment operation.
• Ability to obtain and maintain any required pesticide applicator license.
• Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physically demanding duties.
• Availability for early mornings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours when course conditions require.
