Job description

Manager, SEC Reporting & Accounting Policy

Global Public Company | $5B+ Revenue | South Charlotte, NC

Hybrid Schedule: 3 Days in Office / 2 Days Remote

The Opportunity

Our client is a $5B+ global public company headquartered in South Charlotte that is seeking a Manager of SEC Reporting & Accounting Policy to join its corporate accounting organization.

This is an excellent opportunity for a high-performing accounting professional who wants to move beyond a narrowly defined reporting role. In addition to playing an important role in the company's SEC reporting process, this individual will have exposure to technical accounting and accounting policy, policy development, transformation initiatives, process improvement, and broader corporate accounting projects.

For someone coming from the Big 4 or another large public accounting firm, this could be an especially attractive opportunity to transition into a global corporate environment while maintaining significant exposure to complex accounting and reporting matters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Play a key role in the preparation and review of the company's SEC filings, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, and other required filings.
  • Support the preparation and review of financial statements, footnotes, disclosures, and supporting documentation in accordance with U.S. GAAP and SEC requirements.
  • Research and evaluate complex accounting and reporting matters and help determine the appropriate accounting treatment.
  • Partner with leadership on accounting policy, including researching, developing, documenting, and implementing new and existing accounting policies.
  • Draft clear, thoughtful accounting policies, technical accounting documentation, and position papers.
  • Monitor changes in U.S. GAAP, SEC regulations, and emerging accounting guidance and assess their potential impact on the organization.
  • Work cross-functionally with Corporate Accounting, FP&A, Tax, Treasury, Legal, Internal Audit, and other business partners to gather information and resolve accounting and reporting matters.
  • Partner with external auditors throughout quarterly reviews and the annual audit process.
  • Participate in accounting transformation and process improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, controls, and scalability.
  • Help champion the use of new ideas, technologies, and processes that can strengthen the accounting organization.
Ideal Background
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
  • Big 4 or national public accounting experience strongly preferred, ideally serving large, complex publicly traded clients.
  • CPA strongly preferred.
  • Ideally 5+ years of accounting and/or audit experience
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements.
  • Experience with SEC filings, financial statement preparation/review, technical accounting research, and/or accounting policy.
  • Strong technical writing skills with the ability to translate complex accounting guidance into clear policies and practical business applications.
  • Experience working with large, complex, multinational or publicly traded organizations is highly desirable.
  • Collaborative, intellectually curious, and comfortable operating in an environment where responsibilities may extend beyond a traditional SEC reporting role.
Why This Opportunity Stands Out

This is not a role where someone will be limited to producing quarterly and annual SEC filings. The Manager will have an opportunity to become a well-rounded corporate accounting leader through exposure to SEC reporting, accounting policy, technical accounting, transformation initiatives, process improvement, and broader accounting projects.

For an ambitious Big 4 professional who enjoys technical accounting but also wants broader exposure, mentorship opportunities, and a path toward future leadership roles, this position offers an excellent next step.
