The Senior Surveyor leads surveying phases, mentors junior staff, and maintains rigorous reporting standards. Requirements include a Naval or Mechanical Engineering degree and 3+ years as a surveyor (or 6+ years in related inspection).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Naval or Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Surveyor or 6 years in engineering/inspection with an IACS member Classification Society.
• Fluency in English commensurate with classification and certification work.
• Ability to interpret engineering plans and shipbuilding/operations knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Conduct surveys on classed ships and offshore assets to ensure compliance.
• Prepare technically accurate and timely inspection reports.
• Plan, schedule, and coordinate surveying phases.
• Monitor service quality and guide junior surveyors.

Mission

The Senior Surveyor serves as an experienced and knowledgeable professional within the organization, applying expertise in maritime Rules, Regulations, and industry principles.The Senior Surveyor plays a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy, quality, and continuous improvement of surveying processes.

Key Accountabilities

• Professional Specialist:
• Acts as a professional specialist, applying in-depth knowledge of Rules, Regulations, and industry concepts.
• Keeps abreast of new developments and recommends changes to surveying processes and safety programs.
• Inspection and Reporting:
• Conducts routine surveys on classed ships, offshore installations, or marine assets to ensure compliance with classification and statutory requirements.
• Prepares technically accurate and timely reports of inspections and surveys.
• Leadership and Coordination:
• Plans, schedules, and coordinates various phases of surveying work.
• Monitors the quality of service, providing guidance to less experienced surveyors.
• Client Interaction:
• Engages with clients to solve problems within the area of expertise.
• Ensures client satisfaction through effective communication and resolution of issues.
• Training and Development:
• Provides guidance, and training to less experienced surveyors.
• Contributes to the development and improvement of the skills and knowledge of the surveying team.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Naval Engineering or Mechanical Engineering

Qualifications

• In general, minimum 3 years' experience working as a Surveyor or minimum 6 years' experience in the engineering or inspection/survey fields with an IACS member Classification Society.
• Understanding of RINA strategic technical positioning in the sector of the marine industry
• Proficiency in the English language commensurate with the scope of classification, statutory certification, related services and, before assignment, with their future work.
• Ability to develop a working knowledge of RINA Rules, Guides, statutory regulations, and related instructions, as well as the RINA Employee Safety Policy.
• Ability to understand engineering plans and have knowledge of shipbuilding practices and ship operations.
