Job summary

Lawyers for Justice seeks a Seattle-based Senior Attorney to manage a high-profile wage-and-hour and class-action docket for state and federal matters. You will lead strategy, supervise discovery, handle depositions, argue motions, and drive settlements while mentoring junior attorneys.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years in civil litigation, and is licensed or eligible for admission to the Washington Bar, with willingness to travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Licensed to practice law in Washington with admitted or eligible for admission to the WA Bar.
• Minimum of 8+ years of civil litigation experience including discovery, oral advocacy, and court appearances.
• Experience with class actions, complex litigation, and wage-hour matters is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage and lead a caseload of state and federal wage-and-hour, class, and representative actions.
• Develop case strategy and oversee discovery, depositions, motions, and settlements.

Description

The Senior Attorney will manage and lead an active caseload of state and federal plaintiff's-side wage-and-hour, class, and representative action litigation against regional, national, and Fortune 500 companies, while also providing guidance and oversight to associate attorneys. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, developing case strategy; conducting and responding to complex discovery; taking and defending depositions; drafting and arguing dispositive and class certification motions; leading settlement negotiations; appearing in court for hearings and trial; and mentoring junior attorneys on litigation best practices. Our agenda is growing and the ideal candidate for this position is a licensed, highly experienced litigator with a strong track record in complex or class action litigation who is organized, professional, and committed to achieving strong outcomes for our clients.

Qualifications

• Candidates must be either (a) licensed to practice law in Washington or (b) already licensed in another U.S. jurisdiction and pending admission to the Washington Bar.
• The ideal candidate will be licensed to practice law in Washington and have minimum of 8+ years of experience in civil litigation, including experience with discovery in the civil litigation context, oral advocacy and appearing in Court, motion practice and taking/defending depositions.
• Prior experience with class actions, complex litigation, and wage and hour litigation is a plus.
• Candidates must be able to travel on occasion.
