Job summary

Southern Hills Orchards is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator II to join our local farm team in Leesburg, GA. You will operate tractors, harvesters, planters, sprayers, and irrigation systems to support planting, irrigation, harvesting, and maintenance.

The role requires 3+ years of agricultural equipment experience, a valid driver's license, and ability to follow safety and pesticide rules. Strong mechanical skills, basic math, and good communication are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 3+ years of experience operating farm or heavy equipment.
• Ability to safely operate a variety of farm equipment.
• Basic mechanical skills for routine maintenance and minor repairs.
• Valid driver’s license required. First Aid and CPR preferred.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate tractors, planters, harvesters, sprayers and irrigation systems.
• Perform crop production tasks including planting, cultivating, harvesting, and material handling.
• Apply fertilizers and crop protection products per label instructions.
• Conduct daily equipment inspections and basic maintenance; report major issues.
• Assist with seasonal equipment prep, setup, and rebuilding.
• Follow safety procedures and PPE use and chemical handling rules.
• Maintain records of equipment use, maintenance, and chemical applications.
