Job summary

South Dakota Department of Transportation in Hayti is seeking a Winter Reserve Snow Plow Operator to join our winter operations team. This seasonal, non-benefited role involves snow and ice removal on state highways during storms, and training will be provided.

Applicants must be 18+, able to operate heavy equipment, and hold a valid driver's license with a Class A or B CDL and an N endorsement (N endorsement must be obtained within 30 days if not held).

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age.
• Ability to operate heavy equipment.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and a Class A or Class B commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a N: Tank Vehicles endorsement.
• If you do not have a N: Tank Vehicles endorsement you have 30 days from the date of hire to obtain it.
• Employee will be subject to drug and alcohol testing, including pre-employment and post-accident testing.
• Incumbent must be willing to report to work during inclement weather, including weekends, holidays, early mornings and evenings.

Responsibilities

• Snow Plow Operators are responsible for snow and ice removal on State highways during inclement weather.
• Duties may include completing general maintenance assignments.
• Training will be provided.
