Job summary

Durango Fire Protection District is seeking a Seasonal Wildland Firefighter Type 2 to join the engine crew in Durango, CO. You will respond to initial and extended wildland fires, maintain equipment, and participate in drills to enhance firefighting and EMS capabilities.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, NWCG FFT2 or equivalent, CPR certification, and a valid driver's license. Expect varied shifts and potential deployments as needed by the district.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• CPR for the professional rescuer required.
• NWCG FFT2 qualification or equivalent before starting.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Suppression of wildland fires and coordination with supervisor.
• Maintain emergency vehicles and equipment; inspect, clean and service tools, facilities and grounds.
• Maintain EMS, fire and hazmat certifications at the appropriate level; keep CPR, Fire 1, etc. current.
• Participate in drills and training to develop skills in fire suppression and related areas.
• Operate as part of a seasonal wildland engine crew on initial and extended attacks; assist with maintenance of equipment and hydrants.
