Job summary

Rutgers University seeks Seasonal Agricultural Workers for the Turfgrass Breeding Program in the Plant Biology Department (SEBS), on-site at the Rutgers New Brunswick campus. Work includes field and greenhouse tasks, assisting with trials, breeding crosses, and data collection.

Flexible, temporary hourly role with 40 hours/week for up to six months. Responsibilities involve watering, planting, weeding, tissue collection, and basic plant propagation; candidates must be able to lift up to 40

Qualifications

• High school or equivalent education required or experience in related field.
• Ability to work in a team environment or independently with training.
• Willingness to perform outdoor fieldwork in varying weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Watering, cutting, planting/establishing, or weeding research trials on research farms and in greenhouses.
• Assist in establishment of breeding trials, plant tissue collection or harvest, seed harvest/isolation/preparation/threshing and weighing.
• Develop and use various plant propagation techniques.
• Assist PI or researchers in data collection and analysis.
