Job summary

Rutgers University–New Brunswick is seeking a part-time Field Lab Assistant/Technician in Urban Entomology within the SEBS Entomology Department. The role involves rearing live insect colonies, field pest-control tasks, data collection in Excel, and supporting students and faculty with experiments.

Working on-site at the Cook Campus in New Brunswick, NJ, you will contribute to research and teaching efforts while gaining hands-on experience in entomology and field methods.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required.
• Familiar with experimental design, data recording/management, and statistical analysis.
• Good skills in handling live insects.
• Hands on skills in performing experiments.

Responsibilities

• Assists rearing live insect colonies.
• Assists in field research activities including application of treatments for pest control, conducting rodent control and home inspections, inspecting rodent burrows, and installing rodent monitoring devices.
• Assists in collecting and entering field data into excel files and conducting data analysis from data collected in the field.
• Maintains daily functions of the laboratory, preparing materials for experiments and assisting students and professors with setting up experiments and checking results.
