Job summary

Playwrights Horizons in New York seeks a friendly Box Office Associate to join our front-line team during the producing season. You will help customers, process orders, and maintain accurate data while upholding cash handling procedures.

This part-time, seasonal role requires day, evening, and weekend shifts, with an average of 10–20 hours per week and a start date as soon as possible through January 31 at minimum. Experience with Tessitura is strongly preferred and a love of theatre is a plus.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of prior box office experience, preferably in a performing arts or live entertainment setting.
• Knowledge of Tessitura ticketing system.
• Ability to maintain a consistent part-time schedule with shifts as needed.
• Ability to remain calm in a busy environment and be a team player.
• Love of theater is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers with purchase decisions, and resolve customer conflicts with guidance from Box Office Manager as needed
• Process phone and in-person orders using the Tessitura CRM platform
• Assist with walk-up sales, will call tickets and troubleshooting any ticketing issues in a professional manner
• Maintain up to date knowledge of productions, ticket offerings, and policies
• Collect complete and accurate data from customers, ensuring quality data maintenance
• Follow proper cash handling procedures and reconcile daily transactions
• Maintain a positive attitude and a professional demeanor
• Contribute to the environment of the box office in a manner that is conducive to customer service, equity, and safety
• Train to step in as an emergency house manager
• Perform other duties as assigned by management
