Job summary

H&R Block is seeking a seasonal Experienced Tax Professional to serve clients at a local tax office in Illinois. You will prepare returns for individuals and businesses, interview clients, identify tax savings, and provide guidance with the support of training and technology.

This in-person role offers an hourly rate and an incentive plan based on performance. The ideal candidate has at least 1 year of tax or related experience, strong communication skills, and a commitment to client

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the HR Block Tax Knowledge Assessment
• Minimum 1 year of experience in tax preparation, accounting, finance, or bookkeeping
• Experience in client-facing, consultative, or advisory roles
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Must complete continuing education and meet IRS/state requirements
• High school diploma / GED / equivalent required

Responsibilities

• Prepare complete, accurate tax returns for clients with diverse and complex tax situations, including individual and business returns
• Conduct in-depth client interviews to understand financial situations and tax implications
• Build trusted client relationships and identify tax savings opportunities
• Provide IRS support, tax notice assistance, and audit guidance
• Collaborate with team members and contribute to a client-focused office environment
