Job summary

H&R Block in Stockton, CA is seeking a seasonal Experienced Tax Professional to prepare complete, accurate tax returns for individuals and businesses, interview clients, and identify tax savings opportunities.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the HR Block Tax Knowledge Assessment
• Minimum 1 year of experience in tax preparation or related fields
• Client-facing, consultative, or advisory experience
• Strong verbal and written communication; ability to explain tax concepts clearly
• Must complete continuing education and meet IRS/state requirements
• High school diploma / GED required
• Bachelor’s degree preferred in accounting/finance
• CPA/EA or IRS Circular 230 credential preferred
• Experience with GoSystem or Ultratax software preferred
• Familiarity with AI tools (Copilot, ChatGPT) preferred

Responsibilities

• Prepare complete, accurate tax returns for clients including individuals and businesses
• Conduct in-depth client interviews to understand financial situations and tax implications
• Provide personalized recommendations and identify tax savings opportunities
• Offer IRS support, tax notices assistance, and audit guidance as needed
• Collaborate with team members to maintain a positive, client-focused office environment
