Job summary

H&R Block, Inc. is seeking a seasonal Experienced Tax Professional to prepare accurate returns and advise clients in person at a local tax office in Santa Barbara, CA.

You will interview clients, uncover savings opportunities, and build lasting relationships with clients using the company's training and technology. The role emphasizes client-focused, consultative service, completion of CE requirements, and potential eligibility for incentive-based earnings.

Qualifications

• Completion of H&R Block Tax Knowledge Assessment
• 1+ year of tax prep/accounting/finance experience including individual and business returns
• Strong client-facing communication and advisory skills
• Must complete continuing education and meet IRS/state requirements
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Preferred: bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance
• Preferred: CPA or EA or IRS Circular 230 credential
• Experience with complex returns, tax planning, audit support or notice resolution

Responsibilities

• Prepare complete, accurate tax returns for clients with diverse and complex tax situations
• Conduct in-depth client interviews to understand financial situations and tax implications
• Provide personalized recommendations and identify tax savings opportunities
• Provide IRS support, tax notice assistance, and audit guidance as needed
• Collaborate with team to maintain a positive, client-focused office environment
