Job summary

H&R Block is seeking an Experienced Tax Professional for in-office, seasonal work to prepare accurate returns for individuals and businesses, interview clients for financial insights, and identify savings opportunities. You’ll deliver empathetic, consultative service and leverage leading training and technology.

You’ll work with a supportive team in a client-focused office, providing IRS assistance and staying compliant with state requirements as you grow tax expertise and relationships.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the H&R Block Tax Knowledge Assessment.
• At least 1 year of experience in tax preparation, accounting, finance, or bookkeeping, including preparing individual and business returns.
• Experience working in a client facing, consultative, or advisory role.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain tax concepts in client-friendly language.
• Must complete continuing education and meet all other IRS and applicable state requirements.
• High school diploma / GED / equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare complete, accurate tax returns for clients with diverse and complex tax situations, including individual and business returns.
• Conduct in-depth client interviews to understand financial situations, life changes, and tax implications — then provide clear, personalized recommendations.
• Build trusted client relationships by delivering empathetic, consultative service and identifying tax savings opportunities and relevant H&R Block products.
• Provide IRS support, tax notice assistance, and audit guidance to clients as needed.
• Collaborate with team members, share knowledge, and contribute to a positive, client-focused office environment.
