Job summary

H&R Block, in New Jersey, is hiring a Seasonal Tax Associate to work in-person at a local tax office. You’ll meet with clients, gather information, prepare returns and answer questions while building client relationships. Training and support are provided; you’ll earn an hourly rate with opportunities to increase earnings as you gain tax knowledge.

No prior tax experience is required. High school diploma or GED/equivalent is needed.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the H&R Block Income Tax Course 1
• Experience interacting with customers or clients in a service-oriented environment
• Strong communication skills, including explaining information clearly and asking questions to understand needs
• Problem-solving skills, including organizing information and identifying solutions
• Comfort using digital tools and systems including AI-based tools like Copilot and ChatGPT
• High school diploma / GED/ equivalent

Responsibilities

• Meet with clients to gather information and understand their tax situation
• Prepare complete and accurate tax returns with training and support from experienced teammates
• Explain tax information clearly and provide recommendations in a way clients can easily understand
• Identify tax savings opportunities and recommend relevant products and services
• Apply problem-solving skills to analyze client information and address questions or unique situations with guidance and available resources
• Build strong client relationships and support office priorities through teamwork, collaboration, and a client-first approach
