Job summary

H&R Block is hiring a seasonal Tax Associate in New Jersey to work in person at a local tax office. You’ll meet with clients to gather information, prepare tax returns, and answer questions with training from day one.

No prior tax experience is required, and you’ll earn an hourly rate, with opportunities to increase earnings as you build tax knowledge and grow in the role. Evening/weekend shifts may be available during tax season.

Qualifications

Successful completion of the H&R Block Income Tax Course.
Experience interacting with customers or clients in a service-oriented environment.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills to explain tax information clearly.
Comfort using digital tools and AI-based systems like Copilot and ChatGPT.
High school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

Meet with clients to gather information and understand their tax situation.
Prepare complete and accurate tax returns with training and support.
Explain tax information clearly and provide recommendations.
Identify tax savings opportunities and relevant products and services.
Address questions or unique situations with guidance and resources.
Build strong client relationships and support office priorities through teamwork.
