Job summary

H&R Block, Inc. is seeking a seasonal Tax Associate to start a career in tax and client services with training from day one. You’ll meet with clients to gather information, prepare tax returns, and answer questions while building strong client relationships.

This in-person role offers an hourly rate with potential to earn more as you gain tax knowledge during peak season. No prior tax experience is required; the emphasis is on learning, accuracy, and helping clients maximize savings.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the H&R Block Income Tax Course
• Experience interacting with customers or clients in a service-oriented environment
• Strong communication skills, including explaining information clearly and asking questions to understand needs
• Problem-solving skills, including organizing information and identifying solutions
• Comfort using digital tools and systems, including AI based tools like Copilot and ChatGPT
• High school diploma / GED/ equivalent
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
• Experience in a client-facing or consultative role, such as financial advising, insurance, retail sales, or professional services
• Availability to work 15–35 hours per week, with availability up to 40 hours during peak periods
• Availability to work evenings and weekends during tax season

Responsibilities

• Meet with clients to gather information and understand their tax situation
• Prepare complete and accurate tax returns with training and support from experienced teammates
• Explain tax information clearly and provide recommendations in a way clients can easily understand
• Identify tax savings opportunities and recommend relevant products and services
• Apply problem-solving skills to analyze client information and address questions or unique situations with guidance and available resources
• Build strong client relationships and support office priorities through teamwork, collaboration, and a client-first approach
