Job summary

H&R Block in Lewiston, ME is seeking a seasonal Tax Associate to join our in-office tax office. You will meet with clients, gather information, prepare returns with guided support, and explain tax concepts clearly to help clients maximize their savings.

No prior tax experience is required; we provide training from day one and opportunities to grow. Expect 15–35 hours per week, including evenings and weekends during peak tax season, with competitive hourly pay and access to benefits and incentive

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the H&R Block Income Tax Course or equivalent training.
• Experience interacting with customers or clients in a service-oriented environment.
• Strong communication skills, including explaining information clearly and asking questions to understand needs.
• Ability to solve problems, organize information, and identify solutions.
• Comfort using digital tools and systems including AI-based tools like Copilot and ChatGPT.

Responsibilities

• Meet with clients to gather information and understand their tax situation.
• Prepare complete and accurate tax returns with training and support from experienced teammates.
• Explain tax information clearly and provide recommendations in an understandable way.
• Identify tax savings opportunities and recommend relevant products and services.
• Apply problem-solving skills to analyze client information and address questions with guidance.
