Job summary

H&R Block in New Mexico is seeking a seasonal Tax Associate to gain tax and client services experience. You’ll work in-person at a local tax office, with training from day one, gathering information, preparing returns, and answering questions to help clients navigate their tax situations.

Meet with clients, prepare complete returns with support from teammates, explain tax information clearly, and identify potential savings opportunities.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the HR Block Income Tax Course
• Experience interacting with customers or clients in a service-oriented environment
• Strong communication skills, including explaining information clearly and asking questions to understand needs
• Problem-solving skills, including organizing information and identifying solutions
• Comfort using digital tools and systems, including AI-based tools like Copilot and ChatGPT
• High school diploma / GED/ equivalent

Responsibilities

• Meet with clients to gather information and understand their tax situation
• Prepare complete and accurate tax returns with training and support from experienced teammates
• Explain tax information clearly and provide recommendations in a way clients can easily understand
• Identify tax savings opportunities and recommend relevant products and services
• Apply problem-solving skills to analyze client information and address questions or unique situations with guidance and available resources
• Build strong client relationships and support office priorities through teamwork, collaboration, and a client-first approach
