Job summary

H&R Block is seeking a seasonal Tax Associate at a local Michigan tax office. You will meet with clients to gather information, prepare tax returns, and answer questions with training and support from experienced teammates.

You will earn a competitive hourly rate with opportunities to increase earnings as you build tax knowledge and grow in the role. This in-person position offers hands-on client service and teamwork within a supportive office.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the H&R Block Income Tax Course
• Experience interacting with customers or clients in a service-oriented environment
• Strong communication skills, including explaining information clearly and asking questions to understand needs
• Problem-solving skills, including organizing information and identifying solutions
• Comfort using digital tools and systems included AI based tools like Copilot and ChatGPT
• High school diploma / GED/ equivalent
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
• Experience in a client-facing or consultative role, such as financial advising, insurance, retail sales, or professional services
• Availability to work 15-35 hours per week, with availability up to 40 hours during peak periods
• Availability to work evenings and weekends during tax season

Responsibilities

• Meet with clients to gather information and understand their tax situation
• Prepare complete and accurate tax returns with training and support from experienced teammates
• Explain tax information clearly and provide recommendations in a way clients can easily understand
• Identify tax savings opportunities and recommend relevant products and services
• Apply problem-solving skills to analyze client information and address questions or unique situations with guidance and available resources
• Build strong client relationships and support office priorities through teamwork, collaboration, and a client-first approach
