Job summary

H&R Block in New Jersey is seeking a seasonal Tax Associate to work in-person at a local tax office. No prior tax experience is required as training is provided. You’ll meet with clients, prepare tax returns, and identify tax-saving opportunities while building strong client relationships.

The role offers an hourly pay range with opportunities to increase earnings as tax knowledge grows, and requires availability for peak periods, including evenings and weekends during tax season.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the H&R Block Income Tax Course or equivalent training is preferred.
• Experience interacting with customers or clients in a service-oriented environment.
• Strong communication skills, including explaining information clearly and asking questions to understand needs.
• Problem-solving skills, including organizing information and identifying solutions.
• Comfort using digital tools and systems, including AI-based tools like Copilot and ChatGPT.
• High school diploma / GED / equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Meet with clients to gather information and understand their tax situation.
• Prepare complete and accurate tax returns with training and support from experienced teammates.
• Explain tax information clearly and provide recommendations in a way clients can easily understand.
• Identify tax savings opportunities and recommend relevant products and services.
• Apply problem-solving skills to analyze client information and address questions or unique situations with guidance and available resources.
• Build strong client relationships and support office priorities through teamwork, collaboration, and a client-first approach.
