Job summary

H&R Block is seeking a seasonal Tax Associate to start a career in tax and client services. You’ll work directly with clients to gather information, prepare returns, and answer questions in person at a local tax office, with training from day one.

No prior tax experience required; you’ll earn a competitive hourly rate and have opportunities to increase earnings as you build knowledge. Availability includes evenings and weekends during peak tax season.

Qualifications

• Completion of the H&R Block Income Tax Course 1
• Experience interacting with customers in a service-oriented environment
• Strong communication skills and ability to explain information clearly
• Problem-solving skills including organizing information and identifying solutions
• Comfort using digital tools and systems including AI-based tools like Copilot and ChatGPT
• High school diploma / GED / equivalent

Responsibilities

• Meet with clients to gather information and understand their tax situation
• Prepare complete and accurate tax returns with training and support from experienced teammates
• Explain tax information clearly and provide recommendations in a way clients can easily understand
• Identify tax savings opportunities and recommend relevant products and services
• Apply problem-solving skills to analyze client information and address questions or unique situations with guidance
• Build strong client relationships and support office priorities through teamwork, collaboration, and a client-first approach
